MARKETPLACE IDEAS

                                                         

As stated before, resident renters of this property are entitled to use the property to further their business ventures.  This use is limited to the scope of the GROUP creating and maintaining a "marketplace/storefront" which can be located both indoors and outdoors.  All business endeavors must be APPROVED not only by the group but must be approved by myself, the property owner.  I of course will not approve any endeavors that are dangerous, illegal or otherwise derogatory in nature.  What I will approve and I am hoping all involved aspire to, are positive, realistic projects, all being hand made, hand crafted, unique in nature, and marketable, sell-able products.

WHAT DO YOU  MAKE?  WHAT IS YOUR TALENT OR SKILL?  

Some of the things I envision are products such as:

ART

WOODWORKING

SEWN

BAKED

CRAFTED

CREATED

CUSTOMIZED

...jewelry, desserts, furnishings, clothing, toys, decor, giftware, housewares.... variety.

Items not only attractive to tourists, but to locals as well.  Specialty items, one of kind items, useful items, gift items, decor items, wearable, edible and also somewhat AFFORDABLE items. Having been both a tourist and a local, I must say I have seen many wonderful things out there for sale, but many were out of my price range so I hope to see products in all price ranges offered.

DO YOU have a skill but you have not created that sale-able item yet?  Well, partner up with someone and bring your idea to completion.  Join the group and brainstorm, share ideas and skills, get it done!  Sharing of resources also means sharing of ideas, solutions, labor and tools and supplies when possible.  Giving a hand up to each other, all for the same goal.  To have an outlet for our products, to have a place to create, live and sell.... and with luck and hard work, profit.  Since our business location is also our residence, the overhead for the business end is very affordable.

As the endeavor progresses, once there are at least 12 core resident members, we can further lay out a plan.  I anticipate that residential rents will cover rent on the MARKET space here, but do anticipate extra expenses such as additional utilities, advertising, signage etc. needs that will be addressed when the time comes.  It is my vision that income from the sales will subsidize these costs, with the artist/creator keeping their own profits.  Maybe a membership fee to sell at the marketplace which would be used to cover operating costs, or a % of sales, or whatever method the group creates.  Once operating the marketplace can accept outside products for sale, allow vendors that are not residents... charging a membership fee or a % of sales, with that income going to basic operations.  The more products and the more diversified the marketplace, the better for all, as more customers will be attracted to the storefront.

Being on the main route here in Southern Vermont will be a bonus to attracting drive by customers.  Advertising to the MANCHESTER area will draw tourists.  If we have someone in house that is a bit more proficient than me with internet websites we can also make our storefront available on the internet which would be bonus sales.

SO thats it for now, I leave it to you... please share this site with anyone you know who may be interested... I am open to ideas. I am also on a time frame, if this does not pull together very quickly, I may pack up and sell the place, which I really prefer not to do.
